A translator's role is not to blindly translate a text.

A translator needs to understand the aim and purpose of the source document so that they convey the same messages, emotions and ideas. In my opinion, it is therefore imperative that the translator doesn't just have a good knowledge of the linguistics of languages and translation theories.

When translating a text from one language to another, they must also consider the importance of the cultural and historical influences and references that each language holds within it.
