Translator and Proof-reading North west of England
I grew up in a bilingual environment (French/German) in Northeastern France, and went to study English at the University of Reunion (France), graduating in 1998 before completing an MA in Translation (English Literature) in 1999. That same year I studied at Ripon and York St John's University as an ERASMUS student and went on to train and qualify as a secondary school teacher of French and German in 2000. I have taught Modern Foreign Languages in secondary schools in Leeds, Wales, and Cumbria for 16 years before returning to my first passion, translation. I have also continued to broaden my knowledge of languages, acquiring a GCSE in Spanish, a first level certificate in Japanese, have studied and taught Mandarin Chinese for 3 years and am currently learning Italian.
These many years of working and living in the UK have provided me with a thorough understanding of the culture and workings of the English language. I also strongly believe that I have acquired skills through personal and professional developments that put me in a strong position to fulfill your expectations.
I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists and a career affiliate at the Institute of Translation and Interpreting.
